01.21.2022 | Track and Field
AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State track and field teams are back in action on Saturday at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center with the Cyclone Open. Field events begin at noon, with running events going at 1 p.m.
There will be no live video from the meet. Live results will be provided by Wayzata Timing, here.
The Cyclones continue to ramp up the indoor season this weekend, with many more notable performers either making season debuts or taking to the track for the first time in 2022. One of those entered to make their 2022 debut is Wesley Kiptoo, with the Cyclone star among the entries in the men's mile. This would be Kiptoo's first run since his 13:14.74 at the BU Season Opener in December and his final tuneup before taking on an elite field in the 3,000-meter run at the Millrose Games in New York City next Saturday.
In the men's 800-meter run, the ISU mid-distance stars will take another crack at hitting qualifying marks, with ISU's Cebastian Gentil, Jason Gomez, Frank Hayes, Darius Kipyego and Alex Lomong all entered in the fast heat of the 800m.
For the Iowa State women, Cailie Logue is slated to make her indoor season debut in the 1,000-meter run, while Ashley Tutt, an NCAA Indoor Championships qualifier at 5,000-meters for Northern Illinois in 2021, will start her indoor season with the 3,000-meter run. The Cyclone women throwers have impressed in the weight throw so far this season, and the trio of Antonella Creazzola, Danielle Hoyle and Emily March will get another chance to take to the ring at Noon on Saturday.
