AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State swimming and diving team (2-1, 0-0 Big 12) is set to compete in their first championship-style meets of the season. The divers compete Nov. 16-18 at the Mizzou Invite in Columbia, Missouri, and the swimmers through Nov. 18-20 at the Kansas Classic in Topeka, Kansas.
THE EVENT- Mizzou Invite
Iowa State divers head to the Mizzou Aquatic Complex to take on Northern Colorado, Missouri, San Jose State, Kansas, Ohio State, McKendree, and BYU. Divers will compete in one event each day beginning with the 3-meter, followed with 1-meter and platform. Events begin at Noon each day.
THE EVENT- Kansas Classic
Cyclone swimmers matchup with the first Big 12 opponent of the season as Kansas plays host at the Capital Federal Natatorium. Competitors include Kansas, North Texas, Little Rock, UNI and Indiana State. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. and finals are set to start at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, prelims start at 9 a.m. and finals at 2:30 p.m.
LAST TIME- South Dakota
Brinley Horras solidified first place in two events with 10:22.67 in the 1000 free and 5:02.95 in the 500 free. Lucia Rizzo was victorious in the 200 fly with a time of 2:09.87 in addition to her second event win in the 200 IM, touching the wall at 2:08.33. Carley Caughron also claimed two event wins in the 50 free (23.88) and 100 free (51.34), respectively. Joscelyn Buss earned her first season win with a score of 283.55 in the 3-meter springboard, whereas Jayna Misra was victorious in the 1-meter with a score of 288.05.
ON DECK- Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series
The Iowa Hawkeyes are set to host the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series this year. Before the dual, the Iowa State divers will compete in the Iowa Diving Invite on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Cyclones and the Hawkeyes meet up for the 47th time as Iowa State looks for their 16th win over Iowa in series history. The dual begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 in Iowa City.
