MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Iowa State (0-2-0) women's soccer fell to the Memphis Tigers (2-1-0) on Thursday night, as the Tigers pulled away with two second half goals to claim the 3-0 victory.
Memphis netted their first goal in the 11th minute. The Cyclones and Tigers went back and forth until goals by the Tigers in the 75th and 84th minute sealed the Cyclones fate.
Memphis out-shot Iowa State 24-6 and held a 12-3 corner advantage.
Iowa State Goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz recorded a season-high 10 saves in the contest.Â
How It HappenedÂ
Iowa State had a corner attempt in the first minute of the match but came up empty.Â
Memphis recorded three shots in the first 10 minutes before their fourth shot snuck past Jordan Silkowitz in the 11th minute to go up 1-0.
Memphis out-shot the Cyclones 8-4 after the 11th minute goal until halftime.
Freshman Lauren Hernandez and Sophia Thomas each recorded their first career Cyclone shots.
Senior Mira Emma attempted a shot just before the end of the half but it sailed wide.
The first thirty minutes of the second half saw Memphis out-shooting ISU 6-2 and holding a 2-1 corner advantage.
In the 75th minute, Memphis found the back of the net to go up 2-0.
The Tigers continued to put pressure on the Cyclones before netting their third and final goal to go up 3-0 in the 84th minute.

"This was a great example of the cruelty of the sport. We played with so much quality and dominated much of the game, so to walk away with this score is perplexing. Ultimately, as cliché as it sounds, they put away their chances and we didn't."
