Iowa State Earns Top-Five Finish At Dick McGuire Invitational

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women's golf team placed fifth at the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Cyclones posted rounds of 287, 286 and 302 for an 11-over, 875 three-round total.
Making her Cyclone debut, freshman, Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn, finished inside the top-10 in the medalist race. Chul-Ak-Sorn fired rounds of 69, 72 and 74 to post a 215 tally that included 14 birdies throughout the tournament.
Taglao Jeeravivitaporn knocked in nine birdies and one eagle this week, en route to a tie for 17th place finish. Jeeravivitaporn carded back-to-back rounds of 71 to begin her senior year. She followed round one and two up with a final round 76 to finish with a 218 total.
Liyana Durisic placed in a tie for 32nd after playing four-over-par over the 54-hole stretch. Durisic scored rounds of 76, 70 and 74 for a 220 tally.
Another freshman making her debut is Pimkwan Chookaew. After three rounds, Chookaew finished tied for 42nd place with a 223 score.
Charley Jacobs rounded out the Cyclones top-five with a tie for 60th place finish.
Next on the schedule, the Cyclones will head to Norman, Okla. on Sept. 24 for the Schooner Fall Classic.
