AMES, Iowa – Iowa State has its final tune up before Big 12 Indoor Championships with another split weekend. A group of middle distance and distance runners travel to the Arkansas Qualifier, the throws group heads to the Snowshoe Open while sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers take on the Iowa Open. All meets take place Friday, Feb. 17.

ISU begins with the distance medley relay at 2 p.m. The Cyclones will run in the event for the first time this season, a relay in which ISU has qualified for NCAA Indoor Championships in seven of the last eight seasons.
Cebastian Gentil, Darius Kipyego and Peter Smith are entered to take another run in the 800 meter slated for 5:10 p.m. Iowa State has two holding top-10 times in the nation with Jason Gómez ranking fourth (1:46.53) and Gentil ranking seventh (1:46.75) after both going sub-1:47 for the first time in their indoor careers last weekend. Other 800-meter squad members Kipyego (1:47.38, No. 18 NCAA) and Smith (1:47.83, No. 26 NCAA) have combined to produce the lowest average in the nation with 1:47.12.
Mile school-record holder Nehemia Too has posted four sub-four minute miles this season, with a best time of 3:57.46. The current 16th-place NCAA indoor qualifying time stands at 3:55.98. Too is scheduled to run at 6:20 p.m.
Throwers head to the Snowshoe Open hosted by Minnesota, beginning with women's shot put at 2:30 p.m. ISU will also throw in the men's shot put at 3:30 p.m., women's weight throw at 4:40 p.m. and men's weight throw at 6:15 p.m. Live results are available at this link.
Cam Jones currently ranks 10th in the nation with his school-record setting weight throw mark of 72-11 1/4 (22.23m). This season, the group of men and women have put up seven top-10 program marks including the school record.
Sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers travel to Iowa City to compete at the Iowa Open. Live results are available at this link and the event will be streamed on Big Ten Network+. Last weekend at the Tyson Invite, Sydney Willits leaped past the mark of 20 feet in the long jump with 20-3 3/4 to win the event. The mark ranks eighth in program history and currently is the 28th-best in the NCAA.
