Durisic Finishes Runner-Up; Cyclonitas Place Fifth At The Houston ICON Invite

HUMBLE, Texas - The Iowa State women's golf team finished in fifth place at the Houston ICON Invitational, held at the Golf Club of Houston. The team posted their third lowest three-round total of the season with an 846 (276-276-294) and the second-lowest 18-hole round of the year with back-to-back scores of 276 during rounds one and two.Â
Liyana Durisic finished in a tie for second to earn runner-up honors in the individual standings. Durisic set a new career-low 54-hole score with a 203 tally that included a first round 67 and back-to-back rounds of 68 to conclude the week. Durisic's 203 is now the second-lowest 54-hole total in school history, just two shots behind Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn's 201 at the Schooner Fall Classic earlier this season.Â
Pammy Chookaew was second on the team after recording a career-low 213 (68-68-77) through three rounds. Chookaew began day one of the tournament with two career-low rounds of 68 and 13 total birdies. During the final round, Chookaew added on another birdie to her total and finished in a tie for 20th place.Â
Taglao Jeeravivitaporn recorded the second-lowest final round on the team and placed in a tie for 37th in the individual standings. Jeeravivitaporn carded rounds of 72, 71 and 73 to conclude the week with a 216 total.Â
Ruby Chou and Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn rounded out the team's top-five. Chou recorded a season-low 69 in the first round of the tournament and finished in a tie for 55th place. Chul-Ak-Sorn's best round came at the end of day two where she carded a three-under 69. Chul-Ak-Sorn ended the week in a tie for 64th place.Â
Up next on the schedule is the Mountain View Intercollegiate hosted by Kansas State University in Tucson, Ariz. The three-day tournament will begin with 18-holes on Mar. 17 and conclude with the final round on Mar. 19.Â
