Chul-Ak-Sorn Notched Another Top-Five Finish; Cyclonitas Conclude UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Iowa State women's golf team concluded its week at the UCF Challenge. The team tied for 12th with an 862 (292-287-283) final tally. The five-under final round from the Cyclonitas was just two shots shy of tying for the seventh-lowest 18-hole round in school history.
It was another record-setting week for the nation's No. 13 ranked golfer. Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn claimed the second-lowest 54-hole score in school history, behind her 201 record-breaking total from the Schooner Fall Classic. The freshman's 204 (70-67-67) included back-to-back five-under-par rounds, with a bogey-free round coming on the second day.
Chul-Ak-Sorn recorded five birdies to zero bogeys on day two and was able to slide into the top 10 in the individual standings. During the final round, Chul-Ak-Sorn started slow with a bogey but caught fire, knocking in five birdies during her next six holes.
Chul-Ak-Sorn wrapped up her round with three more birdies and finished the tournament at 12-under. With Chul-Ak-Sorn's tie for fourth place finish, she recorded her third top-five placement of the season and her collegiate career.
Liyana Durisic was second on the team in scoring during the final round. Durisic posted a two-under round of 70 to help the team jump into the three-way tie for 12th place. The junior joined Taglao Jeeravivitaporn in a tie for 60th place overall.
Jeeravivitaporn was able to get things going early in her round. She recorded five birdies to only one bogey in her first 13 holes, but four late bogeys set her back.
Ruby Chou placed fourth on the team after carding a 224 54-hole total. Chou posted rounds of 75, 74 and the final round 75 that included three birdies.
Charley Jacobs rounded out the team's top five. Jacobs finished the week with a 225 tally that included an even round of 72 on the second day. Jacobs concluded her week with a two-over 74 during the final round.
Next up on the schedule, the Cyclonitas are heading to San Diego, Calif., for the Lamkin Invitational, hosted by San Diego State University. The tournament will begin with 36 holes on Monday, Feb. 13, and the final 18 holes to follow on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
