Iowa State falls to UCLA 4-0

URBANDALE, Iowa – The Iowa State women's tennis team fell to No. 12 UCLA, 4-0, on Sunday in the consolation round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Cyclones drop to 2-2 overall, while UCLA improves to 2-1.

The day started with doubles where the Cyclones competed shorthanded against the Bruins. Ashlee Narker would pair up with a new doubles partner in Gala Arangio as they took on UCLA's Kimmi Hance and Sasha Vagramov. The pair would battle back and forth with UCLA before falling, 6-4. Due to injuries, the Cyclones forfeited at the No.3 doubles spot, clinching the doubles point for UCLA.

In singles action Valeska San Martin went up against No.99 Ahmani Guichard, putting up a fight in the second set before falling, 6-2, 6-4. Kuearum went up against UCLA's Hance where she fell in consecutive sets, 6-3, 6-3. These matches clinched the final two points for UCLA, taking the match, 4-0.

The Cyclones will return to action in two weeks in a rematch with Old Dominion in Urbandale on Feb. 9.
