AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team is back in action Friday against a familiar opponent, the Old Dominion Monarchs.

The Series
Friday marks the fourth meeting between the Monarchs and the Cyclones and the second meeting during the 2024 spring dual season. Old Dominion leads the series 2-1, with the last match between the two schools taking place at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Old Dominion got the better of the shorthanded Cyclones, 4-0, handing Iowa State their first loss of the dual season.
Last Time Out
The Cyclones last competed at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, where they hosted Old Dominion, UCLA and Oklahoma State. The Cyclones went up against Old Dominion in the tournament's first round, battling hard in all matches before falling, 4-0, to the Monarchs.
In the next round, Iowa State went up against No. 12 UCLA. Despite being shorthanded against the Bruins, the Cyclones put in a great effort but ultimately fell, 4-0.

Player to Watch
Ashlee Narker is off to a strong start to her college career, going 1-0 in singles and 3-1 in doubles over the first two dual weekends of the season. She picked up her first dual singles win against Missouri State's Juliette Robinson, taking her down, 6-3, 6-3.
Since joining the team in January, Narker has picked up four doubles wins with two different partners, Juliette Nask and Valeska San Martin Ramirez. The freshman from Saint Ives, Australia, will look to continue this start against the Monarchs on Friday.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hit
Lead by Example – Four matches into this dual season, the Cyclones currently sit at 2-0 when they win the doubles point. Senior Isabella Dunlap and junior Anna Supapitch Kuearum will look to start the Cyclones off right at the No.1 doubles spot against Old Dominion.
