IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Cyclones ended the three-day Hawkeye Invitational strong with 14 finalists and four personal bests on the final day of competition.
Senior Madi Dohrn made B finals with a time of 2:01.43, placing 15th overall in the 200 back. Emma Kuhn and Fallon DeWitt entered the 200 back with confidence. Both qualified for the C final while Kuhn ended in 17th place with a personal best of 1:59.86.
The 100 free was led by Carley Caughron, earning a 31st place finish in a field of over 70 swimmers. Grace Swoboda earned her third personal best of the invite with a time of 52.47.
Abbi Crum earned a personal best and a spot in the finals in the 200 breast. Crum achieved 13th place in the finals with a time of 2:17.77. Rookie Anja Peck claimed another spot in the finals with a 2:18.38 time, placing 15th overall.
The 200 fly was dominated by a top five finish from Winter Craig with a 2:02.20 time and a top three placement. Three more Cyclones qualified for finals; Miray Abay (2:05.09) and Sophie Schmitz (2:05.18) in B and Mallory Miller (2:06.80) in C.
Three Cyclones competed in the 1650 free, with Schmitz, Abay, Miller, and Corinne Guist in the running for the title. Guist ended in 17th and Schmitz placed 19th overall.
The 400 freestyle relay was entered by three Cyclone foursomes. Quirke, Caughron, Guist and Swoboda came in 12th, leading the Cyclones with a 3:25.73 overall time.
Head Coach Matt Leach was ecstatic about the diving team each placing and earning points that proved to be the difference against in-state foe UNI. "I am very proud and pleased with the divers today. First time on platform and they all did an outstanding job to close the gap and push past UNI."
Platform diving was dominated by the Cyclones, with all five divers in the top 24. Mitchell ended the Hawkeye invite in 13th place and earned a spot at NCAA Zone Cut Qualifiers for the third time this meet. Ally Blumenfeld secured a spot in the finals and ended in 12th place.
Leach was content with the Cyclones' finish. "As a team we finished off the meet strong and we will look to take this strong finish into our next training block," Leach said. "All the way through, each athlete did a great job. We are extremely proud of how each of them performed tonight and this weekend."

The Cyclones will head back to Iowa City on December 13th to face the Iowa Hawkeyes for the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series dual meet.
