The Series
Iowa currently leads the all-time series 41-10; however, the Cyclones have won the last three matches. Last year, when the schools went head-to-head, Iowa State swept Iowa, 4-0. This was the first time the Cyclones had won against Iowa on the road since they won 4-1 in October of 1976.
Last Time Out
Iowa State went up against Old Dominion last Friday for the second time this season. Despite winning the doubles point, the Cyclones couldn't find a way to close out the match, falling 6-1. To read more about the last time out, click here.
Player to Watch
Isabella Dunlap has started strong for Iowa State this year, going 3-1 at the No.1 doubles spot with partner Anna Supapitch Kuearum. This year, the Indianapolis transfer is 2-1 at the No.2 singles spot, getting her first Cyclone dual singles win against South Dakota's Sorcha Caves.
Dunlap brings experience to this young Cyclones tennis team, being a five-time All-American at Indianapolis and Central Oklahoma, where she was coached by Iowa State head tennis coach, Jaron Maestas.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hit
The Cyclones will have a chance to win four straight matches against the Hawkeyes on Friday. This feat hasn't been accomplished since Iowa State won five straight games against Iowa between 1974 and 1976.
In the Rankings
The Cyclones will go up against one ranked player this week in Daianna Hayashida, who comes in ranked No. 85 in the ITA Singles rankings. For the year, she is 10-5 and gives the Cyclones the opportunity to get their first-ranked win of the spring dual season.
