MANHATTAN, Kan. – Anna Supapitch Kuearum grabbed a ranked singles win over No. 58 Vanesa Suarez, 6-2, 7-5, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Kansas State as the Iowa State (2-6) fell, 6-1, to the Wildcats.
This win marked Kuearum's third straight at the No.1 singles spot and her second ranked win of the dual season, after she beat Iowa's No.85 Daianne Hayashida. Her dual singles record improves to 5-3 on the season.
The match started with doubles where the Cyclones would have to win both matches to take the doubles point due to a forfeit at the No.3 doubles spot. Kuearum and Isabella Dunlap fought hard but ultimately lost to Kansas State's Veronika Kulhava and Tereza Polakova, 6-2. This clinched the doubles point for Kansas State, putting it up 2-0.
In singles, Ashlee Narker went up against Minami Ukita, dropping two sets to her, 6-1, 6-4, giving the Wildcats a 3-0 edge. Valeska San Martin fell to Charlotte Keitel in two tightly contested sets, dropping both, 6-4, 6-2, clinching the win for the Wildcats, 4-0.
