AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team starts Big 12 play on the road as it goes up against No. 58 Kansas State and No. 1 Oklahoma State this weekend.

The Series
Iowa State is 16-34 in matches against Kansas State, but Iowa State has won the last three meetings between the teams. In last year's match with the Wildcats, the Cyclones got the better of Kansas State, taking them down 4-2. Iowa State will look to make it four in a row against the Wildcats on Friday.
The Cyclones are 1-49 in the all-time series against Oklahoma State but picked up their first win against the Cowgirls last year in Stillwater, 4-2, with Anna Supapitch Kuearum clinching the win in singles for the Cyclones.

Player to Watch
Isabella Dunlap is heading into the Big 12 season on the right foot after getting a win in singles against Oregon's Nina Geissler. This win put Dunlap's singles record at 3-2, with both losses coming in matches that went to three sets.
Dunlap also continues to hold down the No.1 doubles spot with Anna Supapitch Kuearum, going 4-1 in dual play so far through the first seven duals of the year. She will be looking to get off on the right foot against Kansas State on Friday.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hit
Last year, Iowa State went 7-2 in Big 12 play, their best finish in school history. This included six ranked wins in the Big 12, the most in program history. The Cyclones were also 3-2 on the road in Big 12 play.
In the Rankings
Iowa State will have plenty of opportunities to grab ranked wins this weekend. Kansas State is currently ranked No. 58 in the country, with one player in the singles rankings, No. 58 Vanesa Suarez.
Oklahoma State is currently ranked No.1 in the country and has several players ranked in both singles and doubles. The highest is former Iowa State Cyclone Ange Oby Kajuru, ranked No.4 in the country in singles and No. 6 in doubles with partner Anastasiya Komar. Komar is also ranked No. 9 in the country in singles and No. 14 in doubles with partner Raquel Gonzalez. The Cowgirls have four other players ranked in singles: No. 56 Sofiya Carrington, No.66 Lucia Peyre, No. 84 Ayumi Miyamoto and No.114 Kristina Novak.
