MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The Iowa State swimming and diving team (3-6, 0-3 Big 12) competed in the 200 fly, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and platform diving during day four of the Big 12 Championships.Â
200 FlyÂ
Winter Craig led all Cyclones in the 200 fly with a preliminary finishing time of 2:03.20. Craig earned 18th place overall and a spot in the bonus finals.Â
In the bonus finals, Craig took second place with a season-best performance of 2:02.11.
Craig finishes her senior season in the 200 fly as one of the most accomplished Iowa State swimmers in the event, holding the fourth fastest time in program history and the No. 2 spot in the 200 fly all-time top performers at Iowa State.
Junior Mallory Miller recorded a season-best time of 2:07.12 in the 200 fly. She would break the time later in the morning with a time of 2:06.77 in a 200 fly time trial event.Â
100 Breaststroke
In the prelims, Paige Hanley secured a season-best time of 1:03.68 to qualify for the bonus final event. Alaina Breitbach finished just ahead of Hanley at 1:03.48 for a 22nd place finish to secure a spot in the finals.Â
In the bonus finals, Breitbach finished in seventh place at a time of 1:04.17. Hanley finished in eighth place with a final time of 1:04.22.Â
100 BackstrokeÂ
Freshman Emma Kuhn led Iowa State in the event with a personal best of 56.21 in the preliminary round. The time secured Kuhn at the No. 20 spot on the all-time top performers list in the 100 back.Â
Kuhn finished 24th overall with a 56.80 time in the finals to cap off an impressive freshman campaign in the 100 back.Â
Maddie Ziegert (56.61) and Madi Dohrn (56.72) finished in 25th and 26th place respectively, just missing out on spots in the bonus finals. Dohrn placed a season-best time in the prelims.Â
Platform Diving
Kate Mitchell, Ally Blumenfeld, and Annie McCann represented the Cyclones in platform diving.Â
Mitchell led all Cyclones with a score of 226.40, securing a second NCAA zone diving cut this season. Mitchell finished in 18th place, 2.55 points out of 16th place and the finals.Â
Blumenfeld ended her day in 20th place with a final score of 211.05, while McCann finished in 30th with 162.00.
200 Free RelayÂ
Friday night at the Big 12 Championships ended in the 200 free relay. A team of Carley Caughron, Andie Quirke, Lydia McClugage, and Maddie Ziegert finished at a time of 1:32.39. They are the sixth fastest 200 free relay team in program history.Â

The Cyclones are in 8th place with one day remaining in the 2024 Big 12 Championships. Most of the squad will compete in Saturday's events to conclude the five days of competition in Morgantown.Â
