AMES, Iowa – Seven current Cyclones along with Iowa State alums are set to compete for their spot on Team USA at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials June 21-30. Oregon will host the Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene.

The Trials will be broadcast on NBC or USA and streamed on Peacock. Cyclones from the 2024 squad will compete in the women's 400m, men's and women's 800m, men's and women's steeplechase, women's long jump and men's shot put. Cyclone pros Hillary Bor (Steeple) and Ryan Ford (10,000m) will also vie for their spots at the Paris Olympic Games. Bor enters the meet ranked No. 1 in the U.S. while Ford ranks eighth in the 10K. The top three finishers at the U.S. Olympic Trials will advance to Paris.

In the first rounds of the 400m, the top five from each heat plus the next two fastest times will advance to semifinals. For the 800m, the top six from each heat plus the next three fastest times will advance. The top five from each steeple first round heat plus the next four fastest times will advance to the final. In the long jump and shot put, each competitor will have three attempts and the top 12 will advance to the final.
Sydney Willits continues her historic season in the long jump. The junior became the indoor national champion with her school record of 22-1 1/2 (6.74m), qualifying for Trials with the automatic standard. Willits holds the No. 8 mark among U.S. Trials competitors.
Cam Jones is headed to the Olympic Trials in the shot put. The junior went past 20 meters as he set the program record with 65-9 1/2 (20.05m). Jones swept the indoor and outdoor Big 12 titles to make himself one of nine in league history to accomplish the feat. Jones enters U.S. trials ranked 15th.
Darius Kipyego is set for Trials in the 800m for the men. Kipyego hit the automatic standard twice this season, including with his lifetime-best 1:45.76 that ranks fifth in Iowa State history. Kipyego posted the ninth-fastest time in the 800m semifinal at nationals to earn his second All-America honor of the season. Kipyego ranks No. 16 in the United States.
Janette Schraft hit the steeplechase automatic standard dominantly taking possession of the bronze at NCAA Championships. Schraft took down her own school record by 14 seconds clocking 9:34.82, the 21st-fastest performance in collegiate history. The Cyclone senior comes into Trials ranked at No. 16.
Gable Sieperda hit the steeple automatic standard twice in his remarkable senior season. Sieperda first downed Wesley Kiptoo's school record by five seconds before resetting the record with 8:25.92 to take third at NCAA Championships. Sieperda holds the No. 19-ranked time among U.S. competitiors.
Rachel Joseph solidified her spot at the Trials with her 400m time of 51.38 set at NCAA West Prelims. The sophomore broke the outdoor record three times this season and is the only woman in Iowa State history to earn All-America honors in the indoor and outdoor 400m. Joseph ranks at No. 21 among the women's 400m field.
Makayla Clark qualified with an elite 2:01.72 in the 800m set at NCAA Championships to finish 13th in the nation and become an All-American. The sophomore has continually lowered her personal record as she began the season with an outdoor best of 2:05.56 set in 2023. Clark ranks second in school history, less than a second off the program record. Clark enters the meet ranked No. 33 in the event.
