EUGENE, Oregon – Janette Schraft dominantly closed NCAA Championships with her third-place finish in the steeplechase, while Maelle Porcher also earned All-America honors.
The women finish tied for 36th with six points, the best outdoor finish since 2017 where the Cyclones secured 21st. Both the Iowa State men and women scored at indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships in 2024, a first for the program since 1991.
Schraft earned First Team honors, Rachel Joseph and Makayla Clark earned Second Team and Sydney Willits and Maelle Porcher picked up Honorable Mention for the women.
Schraft cruised to First Team All-America in the 3,000-meter steeplechase taking the bronze and setting the No. 21-ranked all-time collegiate performance. Schraft, already holding the minimum standard, also hit the automatic U.S. Olympic Trials cut with today's performance.
With four laps to go, the lead back of eight began to break away. In the next lap, Schraft went up to sixth and kept it rolling. Schraft had a phenomenal last 400 meters of 1:11.18 to storm up to third for a final time of 9:34.82, taking down her school record set earlier this season by 14 seconds. Schraft took third behind Alabama's Doris Lemngole who set the collegiate record, and Notre Dame's 2023 steeple champ Olivia Markezich.
The standout steeplechaser became the first ISU woman to earn All-America honors last season, and now adds to that accomplishment in being the only to earn multiple.
Janette Schraft, everybody.

In total, Iowa State men and women produced five First Team, six Second Team and two Honorable Mention All-Americans.
The 2024 season has now come to a close, but Iowa State athletes will now move to Olympic Trials. Seven will compete at U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field June 21-30, while five other Cyclones will represent their countries looking to advance to Olympic teams.
