AMES, Iowa - Iowa State wrestling's Jacob Frost and track & field's Emanuel Galdino are co-Cyclone Club Athletes of the Week after notable performances for their respective teams last weekend.
Jacob Frost
Jacob Frost earned a pair of top-20 victories for Iowa State wrestling over the weekend with wins over Oklahoma's No. 19 Mosha Schwartz and Oklahoma State's No. 4 Tagen Jamison.
Frost's win over Jamison marked the highest ranked win of his career. Frost was busy with his shot fakes throughout the match and which paid dividends for his deciding takedown in sudden victory.
Frost controlled his match against Schwartz from start to finish, notching three takedowns in a 10-4Â win.
The sophomore did not allow a takedown on the weekend as he improved to 22-4 on the season.
Emanuel Galdino
Emanuel Galdino broke the Iowa State mile school record with a 3:55.84, besting the previous mark of 3:57.29, and then returned four hours later to set the sixth-fastest indoor 800m performance in ISU history.
Last week, Galdino set the 15th-fastest all-conditions 1,000m time in collegiate history (2:19.74), and he is the 14th-fastest performer in collegiate history to ever run the event. His time is the third-fastest in the NCAA this season, only behind two Georgetown runners who set the No. 1 and No. 2 times in collegiate history. In the Big 12, his time leads the conference by over two seconds.
About the Cyclone Club
The Cyclone Club spearheads the fundraising efforts for the Iowa State Athletic department and gifts of all sizes directly impact the lives of over 450 student-athletes at Iowa State. Annual Cyclone Club gifts provide ISU student-athletes the opportunity to compete in their sport at the highest level, while preparing them to utilize their Iowa State degree once their athletic careers have concluded. Iowa State Athletics does not receive any State or University funding to operate, thereby making it one of the nation's only financially self-sufficient athletic programs.
