FARGO, N.D. – No. 3 Iowa State won nine of 10 bouts in a 36-3 rout of North Dakota State Sunday afternoon inside the Scheels Center. Five of ISU's wins came by bonus-point margin.
The Cyclones (6-1, 2-0 Big 12) held the edge over the Bison (1-6, 0-2 Big 12) in takedowns, 29-3. ISU's 36 dual team points were its second-most of the season.
Iowa State started the dual with a decision at 125 pounds where No. 14 Stevo Poulin picked up his best win of the season against No. 17 Ezekiel Witt. A big flurry in the second period resulted in a takedown and two near fall points for Poulin which was the difference in a 7-1 decision for the Cyclone.
At 133 pounds, No. 3 Evan Frost earned a 9-0 major decision over No. 30 Tristan Daugherty. Frost grew his riding time advantage to over three minutes after he ended all three periods on top. Frost improved his record to 11-1 on the season.

No. 6 Jacob Frost won an entertaining bout against No. 25 Max Petersen, 11-5, at 149 pounds. Frost got out to an early lead in the match, but Peterson came on strong in the third period and brought the score to within 8-5. Frost found a way to win and iced the match with a blast double for a takedown with short time remaining.
It was a battle of All-Americans at 157 pounds. No. 3 Vinny Zerban put the points on the scoreboard but narrowly missed a major decision against Gavin Drexler, 12-5.

The match at 174 pounds between No. 14 MJ Gaitan and Iowa native Max Magayna did not last long. Gaitan put Magayna on his back for a fall in 1:39, his third pin of the season.
No. 13 Isaac Dean squeaked out a tight win over No. 26 Aidan Brenot at 184 pounds, 4-1, in overtime. Brenot forced the action for much of the match but Dean's defense was up to the task and got the winning takedown off a Brenot attack in the extra period.
