Cyclones, Bluejays, Draw in Physical Bout

AMES, Iowa – Returning to the CSC, Iowa State (2-1-1, 0-0 Big 12) battled Creighton (0-2-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) to a physical 0-0 draw on Sunday evening.
Sunday night's contest didn't feature any goals, but it featured plenty of fireworks, as seven yellow cards and a combined 28 fouls highlighted the contest. Four Bluejays and four Cyclones each picked up multiple fouls, with the Bluejays earning a quartet of cards to ISU's three.
Three Cyclones, Megan Walters, Cassidy Corcione and Sophie Forrester, each had a game-high three shots on the night. Of Iowa State's 15 shots, only three were on target, with two of Forrester's being saved. Makenna Marshall had the lone other shot on goal, as it was also safely handled. In goal, Eme McClenahan had a pair of saves and secured her second clean sheet of the year.
For Creighton, Blu Keiper led the team with two shots. The Bluejays finished with seven total attempts, placing two on goal, with both being saved by McClenahan. Four Bluejays played the full 90 minutes, with keepers Morgan Paley and Kailey Hall each playing a 45-minute half.
The Cyclones held the edge in shots on the night, 15-7, with three on target to CU's two. The Bluejays had more corners, 7-3, saves, 3-2, and fouls, 17-11.
How it Happened
The Cyclones were the early aggressors, taking eight shots to Creighton's three in the first half. All eight of ISU's attempts, though, would come in the first 25 minutes of action, as momentum seemed to shift in favor of the Bluejays.
Creighton launched two of its three attempts in the last 20 minutes, controlling the ball for much of the latter half of the opening stanza. Creighton's Olivia Sides picked up the only yellow card of the half, being booked at the 23:14 mark.
Making her 2026 debut in the later stages of the first half was Alaina Villa, who battled back from a torn ACL in the 2025 season to play reserve minutes.
At the break, things stood knotted at zero, with the Cyclones leading in shots, 8-3. The Bluejays held the edge in both corners, 4-1, and saves, 1-0.
Both teams came out of the break with a different energy, as some early fouls gave way to yellows starting to be handed out. Creighton picked up a pair of cards within ten seconds of each other, as play started to get chippy on each side.
Izabella Tejeda picked up the first of two second-half yellows for the Cyclones, with Morgan Goodman joining her in the 85th minute.
The Bluejays received three more yellows as each team struggled to get clean looks at the net. Only four shots, two from each team, were on goal in the second half, and all four were saved as the game ended in a 0-0 draw – each team's first of the year.
