AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State swimming and diving team defeated Nebraska-Omaha 153.5-104.5 and Northern Colorado 171-83 Friday night. The double dual was held in Omaha where the Cyclones swept the meet.
"It was a very solid meet for us tonight," head coach Duane Sorenson said.
Junior Chelsey Walden took first place in the 1000 free with a time of 10:30.82 and in the 500 free (5:07.54). Senior Tami Ritchie finished in fourth place in the 500 free touching the wall in 5:14.52.
The 400 medley relay combination of seniors Maggie Peterson and Kim Rogers, freshman Marni Benson and Lauren Breunig came in first place with an impressive time of 3:56.74.
Ritchie also took home first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.88 while fellow senior Michelle Collins followed in third place (1:59.52).
Freshman Marni Benson won the 100 breast (1:05.86). Sophomore Krista Fehl placed third with a time of 1:08.24.
Senior Kim Rogers touched the wall first with a time of 2:08.64 in the 200 fly.
Breunig finished first in the 50 free (24.49) and in the 100 free with a time of 52.54.
The Cyclones will stay on the road traveling to Lincoln Saturday, Jan. 28 facing Nebraska at 1 p.m. Results can be found at www.cyclones.
