AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf team finished 15th at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Cyclones hoped to get back into the swing of things today after delays and postponements on Monday. However that didn't happen. Iowa State ended their second spring tournament with another last place finish.
"We need to improve on handling stressful situations," Coach Horton said.
The Cyclones shot rounds of 317-320-317 for a final tally of 954. Iowa State led intrastate rival, Iowa, on Monday by 5-strokes, but couldn't seal the deal. The Hawkeyes ended the tournament 7-strokes ahead of Iowa State for a 14th place finish.
"We didn't play very well, " Coach Horton said.
"We need to improve on everything. We need to keep putting our nose to the grindstone to get better."
USC-Aiken won the event at 36-over-par, 900. Eastern Michigan's Korey Mahoney received first place honors shooting 1-under-par, 215.
