The Cyclones Fight Back in Final Round of the Boilermaker Invitational

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf team climbed three spots to 9th place at the final day of the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The Cyclones carded 307-316-294 for a 917 final score. Iowa State played their best in the final round to boost them from last place after the conclusion of Saturday's 36-holes.
Indiana took medalist honors by carding a 294 in the final round for an 882 final score. Host-school Purdue finished in second place firing a 310-288-298=896.
Indiana's Jorge Campillo took top individual honors after carding a 68 on Sunday and totaling 212 over three rounds. Campillo finished 4-under par 72, and was the only under-par golfer of the tournament.
The Cyclones were led by Chris Baker, who carded a 75 in the third round, totaled 225 finished in 14th place. Joe Cermak fired a 74 on Sunday and totaled 230 for 25th place. Rodney Hamblin shot a 73 on Sunday making that his best round of the tournament. Hamblin totaled 231 for 30th place. John Larson also shot a 73 in the final round and finished 33rd. Curtis Foster saw a great improvement in his final round after shooting a 74 for a 246 final tally.
This tournament concludes the Cyclones' regular season play. They are headed to the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa, Okla., on April 24-25th.
