Cyclones Host Nebraska on Senior Day

AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State's swimming and diving team will play host to Big 12 rival Nebraska this Saturday at 1 p.m., as the Cyclones welcome the Huskers to Beyer Hall Pool for their final home meet of the season.

The Huskers, under the direction of sixth year head coach Pablo Morales, are coming off a very successful 2005-06 campaign in which they went 7-2 and finished 36^th at the NCAA Championships. This year, Nebraska holds a dual meet record of 3-3.

The Cyclones (5-2, 0-1), who fell to the Huskers a year ago in Lincoln, Neb., 115-181, have already seen a preview of what Nebraska has to offer this year. Iowa State and Nebraska tied with 41 points at the Big 12 Relays earlier in the year.

Saturday will also mark Cyclone Senior Day, as the team will be honoring Lauren Breunig, Cassandra Nelson and Chelsey Walden.

Breunig is looking to repeat her performance from a week ago in which she captured first place finishes in the 200 free (1:52.18), 100 free (51.61) and 200 IM (2:06.59). She was also the anchor leg in the second place 200 medley relay team (1:49.50).

Nelson, a native of West Des Moines, Iowa, was also a member of the second place 200 medley relay team. She also helped the 400 free relay team to a first place finish (3:37.02), and earned sixth place in both the 100 back (1:01.55) and 100 free (54.41).

Walden touched the wall second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:15.96 and finished third in the 500 free (5:05.66). She was also a member of the second place 400 free relay team (3:49.21).

Iowa State will also have all four of their divers competing for the first time this year. A week ago at Missouri, Iowa State received top-five performances from Tien Tran and Kali Fryklund in the 1-meter and 3-meter events, as well as a first place finish from Haley Haynes in the 1-meter event.

Following this weekend's dual, the Cyclones will head to Lawrence, Kan., for back-to-back dual meets against Big 12 foe Kansas on January 26-27. Live stats will be available on www.cyclones.com.
