AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State men's golf head coach Jay Horton added another building block to the team's future, announcing the transfer of Ben Herrera from the University of Wisconsin. Herrera will redshirt this spring after sitting out the fall season with the Badgers. The sophomore from Urbandale, Iowa, will provide depth to a squad that won two titles in five events during fall action.
Herrera was a prep standout at West Des Moines Valley High School, where he finished in the top-10 at the Class 4A Iowa state tournament three times, capturing the title in 2004. He competed in four tournaments his freshman year at Wisconsin, compiling a 75.3 stroke average.
