TURLOCK, Calif. ? The Iowa State men's golf team completed the first two rounds of competition at the ninth annual Stevinson Ranch Invitational hosted by Colorado Monday. The Cyclones finished 10th out of 15 teams, improving from 12th after the first round. Wichita State holds a commanding 13-stroke advantage over Colorado and was the only team to shoot under par for the day. WSU's Cameron Bishop finished 5-under par on the day to take a two-stroke lead in the medalist race heading into the final round.
ISU juniors Joe Cermak and Chris Baker registered a two-round score of 148 to tie for 17th. Cermak improved his first-round score by two strokes and Baker fired two rounds of 74 as the pair finished 4-over par.
Cedric Bertin finished two strokes off Baker and Cermak, tying for 24th with a two-round total of 150. Rodney Hamblin finished tied for 63rd with his best round coming in his first attempt with a 79 and Cameron White rounded out the Cyclone scoring with a 172.
Tomorrow's final round begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
