GOODYEAR, Ariz.- The Iowa State men's golf team carded a first-round 284 this afternoon to sit in a tie for fourth at the Ron Moore Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz. The Cyclones are currently seven shots behind first-place San Diego (277).
Seniors Chris Baker and Cedric Bertin lead the Cyclones, standing in a tie for ninth after posting a pair of 69s in the opening round. Joe Cermak carded a 72 and Ben Herrera fired a 74 to round out ISU's counting scores.
Troy Merritt of Boise State leads the individual race after carding a 66. Play resumes tomorrow with 18 holes and will wrap up on Sunday with the final 18 holes.
