Men's Golf in Tenth at Ron Moore

GOODYEAR, Ariz. ? Chris Baker continued his strong play at the Ron Moore Invitational, carding a second-round 68 Friday afternoon in Goodyear, Ariz. Iowa State dropped to 10th place on the day with a team score of 291. They currently lead Big 12 rival Kansas by one stroke.

Baker, after firing a 69 yesterday, has shot consecutive sub-70 rounds for only the second time in his career. The senior sits in a three-way tie for fifth place individually. Seniors Cedric Bertin and Joe Cermak are among the top-50 individually, and Wisconsin transfer Ben Herrera shot a 77.

San Diego commands a three-stroke lead over Kansas State atop the team race. Troy Merritt of Boise State maintained his hot shooting, carding a 65 and giving him a four-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard.

Play will conclude tomorrow with 18 holes left to play.
