WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? The Iowa State men's golf team carded rounds of 294-296 on Saturday and stands in a tie for ninth place after the first day of the Purdue Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. Chris Baker paced the Cyclones, finishing his day with a 1-under par 143 (72-71).
Indiana is currently tied in the team race with Michigan State. Both teams shot a 36-hole total of 563. Hoosier Jorge Campillo holds a seven-stroke advantage for first place individually.
Cedric Bertin shot his best round of the spring season, firing a second-round tournament-best of 67. Ben Herrera and Johnny Larson both placed in the top-50 individually and round out ISU's counting scores. Joe Cermak also competed for the Cyclones.
The Boilermaker Invitational ends tomorrow with the final 18 holes. Results will be posted after play concludes.
