Swanson Earns Degree From Iowa State

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State golfer Tyler Swanson walked across the stage and received his degree in speech communications this afternoon. It was hard to imagine this day would ever come when Swanson suffered severe brain damage in a car accident on May 2, 2004. Swanson was in a coma for 57 days. But with unbelievable perseverance and hard work, Swanson has truly become an inspiration to anyone who has battled adversity in their lives.
In April of 2008, Swanson was presented ISU's “Eye of the Storm” award, an honor given annually to a student-athlete who has fought through challenge and adversity in their pursuit of a degree. Click on the free video link above to learn more about Swanson's amazing recovery.
