WAYZATA, Minn.- The Iowa State men's golf team sits in 11th place after firing a first-round 311 at the Gopher Invitational Friday afternoon in Wayzata, Minn. Texas is the team leader after round one, carding a 282, three strokes ahead of second-place LSU (285).
Ross Menke and Thomas Lathrop are currently tied for 40th after carding a pair of 77s to pace the Cyclones. Ben Herrera is in 45th place after firing a 78. Charlie Holland of Texas is the leader in the medalist race with a first-round 67.
Second round action will start tomorrow morning with 18 holes. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the final 18 holes.
