NEW HAVEN, Conn.- With one round in the books at the MacDonald Cup, the Iowa State University men's golf team is in a tie for second place. The Cyclones shot a four-over par 284 round one, and are tied with St. Edward's University heading to day two. Rhode Island is the current team leader after firing a 281.
Nathan Leary led the Cyclone charge and sits in a tie for sixth place after shooting a one-under par 69 on the day. Ben Herrera carded a 71 and is in 15th place along with seven other competitors. Nate McCoy, Michael Wuertz, and Jacob Aaholm all fired a round-one 72. The over all leader is Brad Lyle of St. Edward's who paced the field with a four-under 66.
Tomorrow the field of fifteen will conclude both the second and third rounds of action.
