ORLANDO, Fla. ? Ben Herrera led all Cyclone golfers with a two-round score of 144 (72-72) on Monday, as the Iowa State men's golf team ended day one in a tie for 15th with a 601 (301-300) at the Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando, Fla. Herrera is currently tied for 11th among individuals. UCF's Blayne Barber leads the medalist race with a 135 (71-64). The Knights also lead the team race with a 571 (294-277).
Nate McCoy shot his way into the top-50 with rounds of 75 and 74, Thomas Lathrop carded a 149 (74-79) and Nathan Leary fired a 155 (80-75) to round out ISU's counting scores. Ross Menke also competed for the Cyclones.
The Rio Pinar Invitational wraps up tomorrow after a final 18 holes. Final results will be posted on cyclones.com at its conclusion.
