WICHITA, Kan. ? The Iowa State men's golf team came out firing today in the first round of the Shocker Classic in Wichita, Kan. Amid cold weather and high winds that caused a delay and the cancellation of 18 holes, the Cyclones ended the day in first place with four individuals placing in the top 10. Those four, Nate McCoy (74), Ben Herrera (76), Michael Wuertz (77) and Tom Lathrop (78), combined for ISU's leading team score of 305.
On a day in which not one golfer was able to shoot under par, Wichita State's Dustin Garza ended his day leading the medalist race with a 1-over-par 72.
A final 18 holes with be played tomorrow, weather permitting. Results will posted on cyclones.com at the tournament's conclusion.
