ISU Men Tee Off in Columbia

AMES, Iowa ? With less than three weeks to go before the Big 12 Championships, head coach Jay Horton will take his men's golf squad to Columbia, Mo., for the Mizzou Tiger Intercollegiate. The 36-hole tournament will take place April 13-14 at The Club at Old Hawthorne (par 72, 6,204 yards). A shotgun start begins play at 8 a.m. each day.

With back-to-back tournaments in which the Cyclones have finished in the top half of the field, ISU hopes to sustain that momentum riding into a tournament where they have had previous success. Freshmen Nate McCoy and Tom Lathrop have proven to be invaluable to a young ISU team. Lathrop has recorded two consecutive top-10 finishes while McCoy leads the Cyclones in stroke average (72.65). Anchoring ISU will be junior Ben Herrera, who, through three spring tournaments, has compiled a better average over his fall numbers.
