PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Iowa State men's golf team is currently tied for third place after the first round of the Desert Shootout Thursday in Phoenix. The Cyclones carded a 277 in the first round. Oklahoma is setting the pace at 274, two strokes ahead of second place TCU and only three in front of Iowa State going into the second round.
Tom Lathrop is currently tied for fifth alongside three other golfers who carded a 67 in the first round. Borja Virto is tied for eighth after firing a 68. The individual leaders are Carlos Ortiz of North Texas and Zachary Blair of Brigham Young, who enter tomorrow's second round of play with a single-shot lead of 66.
The second set of 18 holes will start tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. The final round is on Saturday.
