AMES, Iowa- Iowa State men's golfer Nate McCoy claimed medalist honors at a U.S. Open local qualifier on Monday. McCoy fired a 2-under-par 69 at the Crow Valley Golf Club in Bettendorf, Iowa to earn a spot at the sectional qualifier in June.
A native of West Des Moines, Iowa, McCoy led the Cyclones in stroke average as a junior last season, compiling a 74.11 stroke average with three top-10 performances. McCoy won medalist honors at the VCU Shootout in the fall.
