DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. – The Iowa State men's golf team finished competition at the Rees Jones Invitational, Tuesday. The Cyclones placed seventh out of 12 teams after carding a final-round 301, bringing their 54-hole tally to 915 (299-315-301).
Senior
Borja Virto carded the lowest 18 hole score of the day for the Cyclones with a 73. Virto closed the tournament with a 227 total (75-79-73), tying for 15th among individuals.
Liberty placed first among team competition, finishing 24 strokes ahead of second place East Carolina. All four scoring golfers for the Flames finished within one stroke of first place individually, including the individual title by Niklas Lindstrom.
The Cyclones will be back in action Monday, October 8, as the team travels to Akron, Ohio for the Firestone Invitational.
