TRINITY, Texas-The Iowa State men's golf team is in seventh place after three rounds at the Big 12 Championships in Trinity, Texas. The Cyclones shot a 299 this afternoon for a 905 total, six shots behind Oklahoma State in sixth place at 899.
Texas A&M leads the 10-team field at 868, nine shots better than top-ranked Texas at 877.
Borja Virto had the low round of the day for the Cyclones, carding a 73 to move him into a tie for 33rd at 230. Scott Fernandez, who is tied for 21st (225), and Nate McCoy, who is tied for 27th (227), both shot 74s this afternoon.
Freshman Sam Daley remains the Cyclone leader, currently sitting in a tie for 14th at 224 (75-71-78).
Oklahoma's Abraham Ancer leads the medalist race with a 6-under 210 total.
The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes tomorrow.
