GREENSBORO, N.C.—The Iowa State men's golf team shot a first-round 305 at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate this afternoon. The Cyclones are currently in 13th place. North Carolina leads the tournament after recording a 288 in round one.
The event has been shortened from its original format of 54 holes to an abbreviated 36 holes due to frost warnings.
Standout freshman Nick Voke is not with the Cyclones this weekend while competing in the Asian-Pacific Amateur in Beijing, China. Voke is the team's stroke average leader at 71.92.
ISU freshman Ruben Sondjaja paced the Cyclones with a first-round 74 to put him in a tie for 22nd in the medalist race. North Carolina's Henry Do is the top individual after carding a 68.
