Cyclone Men Finish Sixth At Desert Intercollegiate

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The Iowa State men's golf team wrapped up competition Sunday at the Desert Intercollegiate. The Cyclones placed sixth in the team competition with an 888 three round tally (300-300-288).

TCU won the tournament title, as the Horned Frogs finished with an 845 total, 25 strokes ahead of second place St. Mary's (CA) (870).

Julien Brun of TCU won medalist honors, carding a 206. Brun's teammate Eli Cole was runner-up at 211.

At an even-par 288, Iowa State carded the second lowest score on the final day, trailing only tournament champion TCU (280).

The Cyclone charge was led by Sam Daley and Collin Foster, both firing matching two-under par 70s this afternoon. The tandem's scores improved each round, culminating in a share of 16th place finish for Daley (218) and a tie for 42nd for Foster (225).

Ben Hogan Award Watch List member Scott Fernandez carded a 74 in the third round for the Cyclones to finish tied for 22nd at 220.

The Cyclones will return to the links on March 22, when the team travels to Greenville, S.C. for the Furman Intercollegiate.
