ISU Leaps Into 6th Place At Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The Iowa State men's golf team recorded the fourth-lowest round of the day (281) to move into a tie for sixth place at the Desert Intercollegiate (291-281=572).
Oregon leads the 23-team field at 555, one shot better than Colorado (556).
All-American Scott Fernandez remains ISU's leader, sitting in a tie for 18th at 141. Fernandez fired a 70 this afternoon for his second-straight under par round.
The big mover of the day for the Cyclones was freshman Nick Voke. Voke jumped up into a tie for 36th after posting a 4-under 68 this afternoon. Sam Daley joins Voke at 144 after carding his second-straight 72 and Ruben Sondjaja is tied for 31st at 143 (72-71).
The third and final round will conclude tomorrow.
