MANIKAN-SABOT, Va.- The Iowa State men's golf team is in third place after two rounds at the VCU Shootout, carding rounds of 296-293 (589) this afternoon. Last year's champion Virginia Tech is leading the field after shooting a 579.
The Cyclones were led by sophomore Nick Voke, who is the second-round leader after recording scores of 74 and 68 for a 142 total. His second-round 68 featured seven birdies and is his ninth sub-70 round of his career. His 36-hole 2-under tally is one shot better than Connor Hayden of Radford (143).
Senior Sam Daley is sitting in a tie for 19th at 148 (73-75). Sophomore Ruben Sondjaja is tied for 25th (76-73=149) and senior Scott Fernandez is currently in a tie for 30th at 150.
The final round will conclude with 18 holes tomorrow.
