Tennessee Diving Invite & Winter Training

01.05.2015 | Swimming and Diving
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Iowa State divers completed in the third and final session of the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Sunday. Elyse Brouillette led the Cyclones in the platform event with a five-dive total of 186.80 and a 21st-place finish.
Sophomores Becky Stochl and Julie Dickinson finished in 24th and 27th-place with scores of 174.50 and 165.50, respectively.
“Overall we got out of today what we needed. For Elyse, she was doing four dives that I would call new dives, and she hasn't been on the seven-meter before coming to Tennessee,” Iowa State head diving coach Jeff Warrick said. “Becky and Julie were right at, or near, their personal bests, but I know they can do even better.”
Warrick's squad will continue to train in Knoxville, Tennessee until returning to Ames on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
“While we're in Tennessee, we only have two days of training, the rest is competition,” Warrick said. “We won't accomplish a ton, but we will definitely take advantage of the higher platforms. It's also been a good bonding trip for our divers, which will also help them to push each other more in practice.”
