TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior Scott Fernandez is leading the way for the Cyclones after the first day of the National Invitational Tournament. Fernandez is tied for third after firing a 70 while the Cyclones carded a 299 to stand in 10th place heading into the second round.
New Mexico State shot a 283 to hold the top spot.
Luis Medina of New Mexico State is leading the field after carding a first-round 68.
Collin Foster shot a 74 for a share of 30th and Ruben Sondjaja is tied for 37th with a 75. Linksters Sam Daley, Nick Voke and Jack Carter all shot a 77 (T59).
The NIT continues with a round tomorrow and concludes with the final round on Sunday.
