Cyclones Set for Trio of Meets

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State men's and women's track and field teams scatter the map this weekend for a trio of meets across the country. The Cyclones kick off action on Thursday at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kansas and the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California. Select athletes will compete at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Cyclones are set to begin the Kansas Relays on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT in the 800-meter run (unseeded). Kristen Henson, Andrea Toppin, Madison Nagle, Katherine DeSimone and Jacqueline Fiest are all set to compete in the race.
Next up at the Kansas Relays is the women's 1,500-meter run (unseeded) at 5:40 p.m. CT. Erin Norton, Heidi Engelhardt, Colleen Riley, Julie Wiemerslage and Taylor McDowell will represent the Cyclones in the event.
Maryn Lowry will close out the meet for the Cyclones in the seeded portion of the 800-meter run on Saturday at 2:44 p.m. CT
Five middle-distance and distance runners will face elite competition at the Mt. SAC Relays over the weekend in Walnut, California. Action for the Cyclones starts on Friday at 4:50 p.m. with Patrick Peterson in the men's 800-meter run.
Iowa State's top-two women's distance runners will each compete in a separate heat of the 5,000-meter run. Senior Margaret Connelly is set to compete in the event at 9:44 p.m. CT followed by fellow senior and All-American Katy Moen at 10:17 p.m. Both races will feature top-level competition from both professional and collegiate athletes.
