BREMERTON, Wash. – The No. 43 Iowa State men's golf team is in sixth place after firing another 287 (1-under) in the second round of the NCAA Bremerton Regional this afternoon.
The Cyclones have a two-day 574 total for the tournament, just one shot back of fifth-place Baylor at 573 to stay in the hunt for their second consecutive NCAA finals appearance. The top five teams and low individual not among the top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
TCU took the lead over the 14-team field after two rounds at 564 and Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington is the individual leader at 136.
Sophomore Ruben Sondjaja made a major move by firing a 3-under 69 (141) today to climb up to a tie for 12th. Sondjaja had five birdies on his card today.
Senior Sam Daley remained steady for the Cyclones. Daley matched his first round score of 70 this afternoon to sit in a tie for 10th at 140.
Scott Fernandez finished with an eagle on the 18th hole to sit in a tie for 32nd (74-73=147).
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with 18 holes.
