BREMERTON, Wash. – The No. 43 Iowa State men's golf team is tied for fourth place after firing a 287 (1-under) in the first round of the NCAA Bremerton Regional this afternoon.
UAB is the first-round leader at 280 and Southern California's Sean Crocker is the individual leader after carding a 66.
The Cyclones were led by senior Sam Daley, who is in a tie for eighth after carding a first-round 70. Daley's round was filled with four birdies and just two bogies (2-under).
Nick Voke carded a 71 and is tied for 14th and Ruben Sondjaja is tied for 22nd after posting an even-par 72. Senior Scott Fernandez finished with a birdie on the 18th hole for a 74 (T37).
The top five teams and low individual not among the top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
The second round is tomorrow with 18 holes, followed by the final 18 holes on Saturday.
