Sondjaja Shares Lead At Bridgestone Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. —The Iowa State men's golf team sits in a tie for 3rd place after two rounds (287-272=559) at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.
The Cyclones fired an impressive second-round 272, which ties for the second-lowest 18-hole team score in school history. Ruben Sondjaja, Tripp Kinney and Denzel Ieremia all turned in sub-70 rounds to aid the leap from their 10th place position after round one.
Duke is nine strokes ahead of the Cyclones to pace the field at 20-under (283-267=550).
Iowa State was led by senior Sondjaja, who had a blistering second-round 66 (6-under) to put him in a share for the lead (70-66=136) after 36 holes. It was Sondjaja's fourth round in the 60s this season and the 13th of his career.
Freshman Tripp Kinney is also currently in the top-10 after two rounds (T7th) at 138 (70-68). His two rounds today are the lowest of his young collegiate career, breaking the sub-70 threshold for the first time in the latter round.
Denzel Ieremia, who is coming off of a tournament victory last week, is in a tie for 22nd at 141 (74-67) and Sam Vincent is in a tie for 37th at 144 (73-71).
The Bridgestone Golf Collegiate will conclude tomorrow with an 18-hole shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
