AMES, Iowa — Iowa State All-Big 12 golfer Nick Voke will represent New Zealand at the 8th annual Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship on Oct. 6-9. The AAC will feature the leading players from the 40 Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation affiliated organizations.
Voke, one of six New Zealanders in the tournament, will compete for a chance to play in one of the most prestigious golf tournaments — The Masters at Augusta National. Last year's winner, Jin Cheng of China, earned a Masters berth in 2015 before missing the cut after the opening two rounds.
The tournament's location — Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon, South Korea — also played host to the 11th Presidents Cup in 2015, the first time the tournament was held in Asia. It has also held other events such as a Champions Tour tournament in 2010.
Voke, an Auckland, New Zealand native, has risen to become one of the greatest golfers in Iowa State history during his four years as a Cyclone. The three-time Big 12 All-Tournament selection has notched 15 top-10 finishes during his ISU career.
