TUCSON, Arizona – The Iowa State men's golf team is in a tie for seventh place after carding a first-round 288 at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Arizona this afternoon.
Santa Clara and Nevada are currently on top of the leaderboard at 278.
Nick Voke is the Cyclone leader by firing a 4-under 68 in the first round. Voke, who is currently in fourth place, had four birdies and no bogies on his card today. It was Voke's fourth sub-70 round of the season and 20th in his career.
Jack Carter is in a tie for ninth after carding a 70 this afternoon. Carter rallied on the back-nine, birdieing five holes in a row to record his career-low round.
The second round begins tomorrow morning, followed by the third and final round on Tuesday.
